Remembrance

Magical realism

Remembrance is an indirect, standalone sequel to The Final ActThis manuscript follows Lena to Vineta, the hidden community of the villianous Corpus Dei. I’m currently writing the first draft so this blurb is a li’l rough (okay, very rough), but since y’all usually want to know about my next project, here we go!

Twenty-two-year-old Maeve Maddox, a witch with the gift of telepathy, has spent her entire life in Vineta, never quite comfortable and never sure why. A few years ago, she almost ran away, until love and an unexpected pregnancy convinced her she had to stay. The marriage didn’t last, and now she's tethered to a place she doesn’t want to be by her three-year-old daughter.

Then she meets Matias, a dangerously charming spy from the Witches and Warlocks Division of the U.S. Army. Even though he intended to kill the Corpus Dei, Maeve is fascinated by the memories of his loving family and uses her magic to alter his intentions. He now believes he came to Vineta to join their cause, thereby protecting him from the worst of the Corpus Dei.

But the more time they spend together, the more Matias helps Maeve see how her childhood was shaped by emotional abuse. And by robbing him of his free will, Maeve is only perpetuating the cycle, forcing her to reconcile her upbringing with the principals she thought she believed and her own experience of motherhood.
