Agent Testimonials

Praise for Intuition

The concept here is fascinating, and you really open the story with a bang. Plus, you have a nice commercial voice that drew me in from the start.

- SCBWI Conference Editor

The voice in this is incredible! I’m loving a lot about this...I do know of a couple of other agents at [agency] who I think would be an amazing fit for this. I can see at least one if not all connecting really well with this story.

I jumped into this right away and once again I think your writing is marvelous. Truly! I do like the alternating points of view, and each character is indeed distinct and easily identifiable.

I greatly enjoyed reading more of your work. Unsurprisingly, based on the strength of your other project, there is so much that’s working beautifully here (some terrific writing, strong characters, and an engaging premise to begin). I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I see a deal for INTUITION very soon!

Although we won’t be pursuing representation at this time, it was a very close call, and we would be happy to hear from you again on future projects if you don’t connect with someone wonderful on this one.

Your voice is great and I really appreciate the moral complexity of the story. Especially now with all the questions going around about the medical system, it’s very timely. You’re a wonderful writer, and I hope this book finds the home it deserves.

The writing is very strong and engaging. But I personally don’t read scifi so I don’t know the editors who are acquiring it. I’m betting that a lot of agents will see the commercial potential of this – and I don’t doubt that you’ll be picked up immediately.

I really enjoyed the setup and characters...I’m so sorry not to have better news, but undoubtedly another agent will feel very differently. And if you have works to query in the future, I hope you’ll think of me!

I’m sure another agent will go for the story. I do like the idea of medicine. And that you’re an MD who writes. Best of luck to you.”

It may not seem this way, but saying no is tough for me. I really appreciate your patience during this process and I truly wish you the best of luck in finding the right agent! I’ll be rooting for you!

There’s a lot to enjoy here. I have a feeling someone is going to scoop you up soon. I’ll be keeping an eye out for your name in the deal announcements.

There’s a lot that’s compelling about your manuscript, including a beautifully built world. My decision is based on my present workload. That said, while your project is not right for me, it might be right for another agent so don’t give up!

You are a strong writer. I wish you every success with INTUITION! Don’t give up! Keep going with it, there are numerous agents out there that may be a good fit. I wish you the best of luck!

I hope you’ll keep me in mind should you find yourself with a new manuscript to query.

I strongly encourage you to continue your pursuit of publication and hope you’ll consider me again for your next work of art.

Your characters are so compelling and I love how you’ve incorporated your medical knowledge into the book.

I truly admire your tenacity and glad I had the opportunity to review INTUITION.

We admire the scope and ambition of your project, but YA Science Fiction is not our expertise. We would encourage you, however, to submit to those agencies that have more experience with this genre as we think your writing does have promise.

Praise for Power of None

You are an outstanding writer, and I can see why you graduated Magna Cum Laude! I sympathized with Angelee and found her plight and your story line to be fresh and appealing.

The writing here is good and the premise is interesting. You’re obviously a skilled writer and I know I’ll be kicking myself. I’m sure another agent will feel differently and I look forward to reading about your many successes.

The concept itself was very intriguing, and I was quite drawn in by the initial pages of the manuscript. It’s clear to me how much time you’ve put into polishing the novel and truly honing your craft.

I found your writing to be smooth and moving.

I really liked the voice here. I think this is a very fun premise and world.

I like the concept for this story, and you do have natural talent. Hope to hear from you again.

Angelee’s a sympathetic protagonist, and her magic dilemma is a perfect metaphor for being the youngest child.

This is a compelling concept.

I think you have an interesting story here...In this subjective industry, I’m sure another agent will feel differently.

Praise for Dracolorica

You have a lot of interesting things going on in this manuscript. The world is unique and well-imagined; Jake, especially, is a complex and involving character; and you’ve created compelling moral dilemmas for the characters.

Thanks for sharing your very creatively-conceived novel. You have a strong natural storytelling ability and show real promise.

You’re a very strong writer, and this is quite a commercial concept.

I was impressed with your fun and accessible writing style.

I applaud you for your imagination...Certainly there are others who will feel differently. I wish you much success on your road to publishing.

It’s imaginative and creates suspense on several fronts.

Interesting, and nicely written.

Praise for The Little Green Streetlamp

It has an Oscar Wilde fairy tale feeling about it or maybe Hans Christian Anders is more like it. I do like the concept of a streetlamp, light, warmth, a little kitten.

There is something about it that touches me.

I found it promising.
