About Me

Sheri Ann Borbón is an Internal Medicine physician with over a decade of clinical experience. She completed medical school at the University of Colorado, and her residency training at the University of California, San Diego.

Before medicine, she earned her degree in Creative Writing from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude. Her honors thesis—a young adult fantasy novel—was the culmination of coursework that included “Writing for Children” with former children’s editor Liz Van Doren. She also interned at the Andrea Brown Literary Agency. She has been a member of SCBWI since 2008 and won the San Diego DEI Award in 2026 for her writing.

Her short stories have been published in The Bookends ReviewPlanet Magazine, and the University of Pennsylvania’s literary journals. She worked as a movie reviewer for The Orange County Register and wrote a bimonthly opinion column for seven years for The Wave, a Register insert.

In medical school, she received both the Ruskin Family Award and the President’s Diversity Commendation from the University of Colorado for her work with medically underserved populations and her contributions to fostering a more culturally diverse and inclusive university community. She also secured two grants from the President’s Diversity Fund to develop and lead a reading and writing program at a local elementary school with the lowest testing scores in the nation.
